I have googled this and only found people quoting MS KB articles... wondered if anyone here has some 'real world' answers to this problem... all thoughts appreciated.
I have a user with a roaming profile who is accumulating a large amount of temporary files on a daily basis. They appear in profile\user\application data\microsoft\outlook folder and also in the users pictures folder. All files are around the 180Mb size. The only file in the users profile that could produce temp files of that size is his OST file at 400Mb. On a daily basis his profile size grows to 4.6Gb... yes Gb! Once I have deleted all the temp files it drops to around 500Mb, still too big IMHO but nonetheless the profile loads in 3-4 minutes.
Plan is to run a script to get rid of these files for now but I would love to get to the bottom of this issue once and for all. It only happens to one user. The only other occasion when a users profile had a huge tmp file was when he had been downloading a movie across the network, he addmitted the action, file deleted and no further problems.
Have checked this users machine and talked to him and there is no sign of any 'downloading' activity or other such activity.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
