RMAN cannot allocate channel

Customer has Oracle v 8.1.7 on Windows. We have installed NW Client and NMO 4.1 on Oracle server.
When we tried to start RMAN script it hangs forever.
After then we decreased the RMAN script on only allocate channel function. RMAN output shows that RMAN successfully compiled allocate function and started to execute it, but in execution process hangs up and remains in that state forever. There is no any additional error output.
We tried to install few orasbt.dll files: one from Legato installation kit (version 4.1), one from Oracle database installation kit and one from internet forum, but the result remains same: RMAN script hangs up in execute process of channel allocation.

Does someone have any suggestion or idea??

I had the same enviroment on my test computer and after some difficulties, i succeeded install NMO for the first time.

I would suggest that:

1. Making sure that your RMAN is working fine:
connect target sys/change_on_install@...
connect rcvcat ....
run {
allocate channel d1 type disk;
backup current controlfile;
release channel d1
}

2. Remove all NMO and Networker and reinstall with the latest version. ftp://ftp.legato.com/pub/eval/2005Q2/. i noticed you quoted some source but the best one should always be from Legato itself.

3. Follow carefully installation guide.

4. Should you see any error, try look it up in Legato websupport.
