Hi Everyone I am new here.
I need to solve a issue with my fc release 4 2.6.12. I have about 30 linux pc's on a private fiber network (not all of them) running misc verisons of Redhat. When I rlogin to some of the pc's I go right to root without asking for a password but some of them ask me for a password. The other pc's has never ask me for a password before. What has changed and how can I stop that. Like I have said this is a private network and is NOT connected to the internet or any other connections. I need to look at the pc's for errors in software and hardware. Can anyone help me? Thanks

There may be an .rhosts file stating which other machines can connect without a password.

Thanks Don I picked out one of the PC'S and I am in their .rhosts as well as they are in mine. I tried to give you the info on the pc but when I do /etc/redhat-release I get a permission denied. So I did uname -a and it gives me Linux cat44 2.4.20-6 I assume this is the kernal version. Is there any other info I can give you to help me in this matter?
Thanks so much for your reply.
