I personally have never found this a problem, but we have a client all with 1608 and 1616 handsets. They replaced an old Toshiba system and when an internal call came in to the system the call would ring complety different like a high pitched tone. When an external call would come in you get the standard external ring ring. I can not beleive that Avaya have no means of changing this on the system other than for analogue handsets. I see the option is on the R4 IP dect but can not find it for digital handsets or IP handsets . Can any one confirm this is not possible please?

I know the Panasonic range of products will do and various othe manufactures even a Nortel BCM.

Thanks,
Marshall

IP Office has other ( better ) qualities, no it is not possible to load a different ringtone.
The only option is to play with the ringer settings on the phone.

This will not give anything other than a ring for internal and a ring ring for external calls. I understand what you are saying about the IP office but even a 20 year old Toshiba can do it. I agree the Avaya is a good product but not the best at the basics.I struggle to understand the better qualities more complicated maybe and long winded to complete the simple tasks but why build a bridge across a river with a 1000 pieces when 10 will do the same job.

Thanks,
Marshall

eery product has its pros and cons, i agree that the phones on IP Office are not counted with the pros.
Even the most expensive 9600 phone does not support more then 16 different ringtones and you cannot get a custom one on it.

Avaya, wake up!

Avaya dumped distinctive ringing between internal and external calls at R3.0. Intentionally.

It's people like you who generalize.

give them a little time. i can tell the difference between an internal/external on my 1616 no problem now. took a little while but you tune into it.

Get well soon Aaron.

Ip office is one of the only I know of that passes external caller ID during transfer, most systems pass internal transferee. Ideal for screen popping future sales options, don't bother with customers stuck on ring tones:) there is a difference but it takes time to get used to it

If a user wants ringtones above functionality then sell fancy SIP phones and one-X portal. That will make them happy enough.

Can you recommend any SIP handsets this may be an option. P.S I appreciate the response and excuse me if it seemed like I was being rude. I just get really frustrated with the Avaya. It is so close to being a great product.

Thanks,
Marshall

Don't worry about it mrmarshall. Many of us have beat this issue into the ground so the question is old news. I remember the days when the phone rang and people answered it. I also remember when people understood that their 10 year old sports car could go >180MPH but their new Smart Car cannot. Isn't the Smart Car newer? Why can't it do everything the 10 year old car could do? It is easily more high tech.

@ EveryOne

Avaya phones happen to own amazingly professional ringtones. In my opinion that is a MUST in Avaya phones, its pattern in ringtones. They're very beautiful! They ring very silently and in such a pleasurable standard. By the way, does anybody know what Avaya phone has this standard that you hear at the beggining and at the end of the Avaya Easy Switch commercial? I simply love it. If anyone knows please let me know....
