RHEL4+Network issue

I installed RHEL4 in HP BL20P server after when i tried to ping it is showing Destination unreachable. But the loop back is working fine. I tried all possibilities but network not responding.The link is ok and up. Can anybody advice me where i can check and solv this issue

Many firewall kits (including server distros such as your's) have a default behavior to gobble up pings and provide to acknowledgement to the sender.

I recommend pinging

Any other host i will ping it is showing destination unreachable. I disable firewall also. The link is up and the card is ok

Try tracert, to see where you are going, if at all.

I'd start at the server, and first ping it's IP address (not the loopback). Then try it's default gateway. Try checking for subnet and VLAN assignments, proper network mask. Also maybe replace the cable, as a link light is not proof that a cable is good.
