R9 and higher can have features enabled for v8 on customer options and the system software is actually R9
Replacement processor needs to have software on it equal or greater than current processor, but less than R10
R10 and higher require license. Not equal to or less than current processor will cause corruption and loss of trunks and other
programming.
A great teacher, does not provide answers, but methods to teach others "How and where to find the answers"
