Is there any way to reverse a recovery done in XP? I can't access my files but the hard drive is indicating that the space is still in use. If anyone knows how to reverse the recovery or even get at my files I would really appreciate some help
The only way I know to reverse your install of XP (other than one that is upgraded from 98 or ME, and only if you save the 9x install), is from a backup image of your old install. You should as a matter of course backup your valuable data anyway.
You can not uninstall Windows XP Professional if you:
Changed your hard disk configuration; for example, if you have converted from FAT to NTFS or have created new partitions.
