I have done this. I think you must have the Quicktime Pro version, that's the $$$ registered version so the functions
are open. In the Movie menu there is the Loop Back and Forth
function that plays the file backwards and it works great.
Once played backwards you can export the file and edit the
section needed. Of course if it's a big file ( a movie)the
results may be unpredictable.
As far as I know Quicktime is the only player that has this
useful function.
