I've been given a Crystal report and need to figure out how it was created. I have CR v8.5. I can find the sql code by going to Database > Show SQL Query but there are calculated fields in this report which aren't captured in the sql code. I can see the individual formulas of these fields by right-clicking and selecting "Edit Field Object", but is there a way to see everything put together?

You can go to file->print->export-> and choose report definition under "format." I usually choose "application" under "destination" and it exports directly to Notepad. This will give you much, but not all, of what you are looking for. I can't recall exactly what's missing, but there are a few things that are not captured--e.g., maybe the composition of running totals.

There are also tools out there that you can purchase that might be more comprehensive.

be careful with the phrasing of 'reverse engineer'. If you are looking for report definition that is one thing, but RE is a different beast and a license violation to boot.

Check out Kenhamady.com for some 3rd party tools. I think it is CUT that can get you a better definition.
