I have deleted some static DNS ptr records for some mac workstations and they are no longer in the forward lookup zone but they keep reappearing in the reverse lookup zone after i manually delete them from there.
This is all on an internal sbs 2003 server running dns.
So basically they appear twice in the reverse, the old, and the new ip's.

Any ideas?

You mentioned static DNS entries but how are the IP's assigned? Are you using DHCP to register the IP in the forward and reverse? How long is the lease for? DNS entries will remian in DNS if DHCP is registering on behalf of the client for as long as the lease is valid.

The IP's are assigned through dhcp but i used a block that was set aside for static purposes for the MAC workstations. I then added them to the dns forward lookup and had it create a ptr record in the reverse lookup zone. later i decided to use those ip's for some other equipment so i moved set the MAC's to use another static set off of the DHCP scope. But those other ones still remain in the reverse ptr records.
