I'm a network guy (not a programmer), so this thread is definitely not my forte. In fact, I know just enough VB6 to get myself into trouble.
I would like to have a small piece of code that could return two pieces of info for the warrenty registration of new hardware.
imbedded monitor serial number
imbedded machine serial number (not OS)
Both of these pieces of information do exist (I've been able to get them through a trial version of a commercial app), but it's like killing a fly with a sledgehammer.
I don't need 250 "points-of-minutiae" to swim through. I would be happy with just the above two gems of info and I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money for a software package that I really don't need...Just can't justify the ROI questions.
My wife suggested for me to "get off your lazy butt and look at the back of the computer and monitor". After my kids stopped laughing I explained that I'm usually at a remote location using PCAnywhere to connect to a different machine than where my "lazy butt" is physically parked.
I'm hoping someone here can help.
