I have a .BTR file that I need to get data out of, to .CSV or XML.

I think it is version 6.15 files, but I am not sure.

I have never worked with Btrieve before.
I need either a free program to the job for me, a program in the 200$$ range.

Is there any such programs around? I can't find any.

Do you know the structure of the record? Do you have DDF? If you don't have one of those, you are going to be very limited in your options. Btrieve does not store field information in the file. It only stores the record as a collection of bytes.
If you've got DDFs, you can use ODBC (as long as you've got an ODBC driver) to export the data. If you know the record structure you can either build DDFs or build a program to open the file using the Btrieve API and read the file that way.

You might check out BtSearch at It will help you analyze the structure and build the ddf files after which you can export to dbase or ascii.
