Hello all,

What I need to do is probably simple but im no exchange expert. I recently took a computer on my network off of the exchange server and set him up on a dial up.

We are running outlook so I went into tools options and unchecked the box that says use exchange server for mail.

Olutlook told me it had to restart to make the changes and it did. When it did restart all of the clients 4 years worth of emails was gone. Presto finito history. He never did a back up of his messages either.

I went to the exchange server and under properties it says their is 16456 items in this account. Is that his mail? Can I get it back to his machine?

If so how?

Thanks so much!

Is the situation here that this user will no longer be accessing this exchange server, but needs his old emails from there? IF so, then from one of your networked machines, log in as this user, set up his Outlook profile with Exchange server included, open his mail, and export all of his emails to a personal folder (.PST file). Burn this file to a CD, bring it to his non-networked machine, attach it to his Outlook profile, and import the mails back into Outlook.

Hey Brontosaurus!! Thanks a million!

Your suggestion worked as you explained and I appreciate your help.

Regards
