Hello all!

I maintain some computers at my church and I'm trying to implement user/group security on one of the computers. I'm new at this, so I'm starting easy :). I want to be able to restrict users from clearing the internet history and deleting cookies.

I have WIN 2000 on the computer, and my users are part of the default user's group. I don't have active directory, so I'm limited to file/folder security, and the local security policies. After looking throught the security policies, I don't see anything that sticks out. If I restict the users from deleting history and cookies at a file/folder level, then the user can still go in through internet options and clear the history that way.

Any ideas? I'd rather stay with WIN 2000 security, but if there is some freeware out there, I'm flexible.

Thanks all!

You can open Windows Explorer and go to System root\system32 ie "C:\Winnt\system32" find a file named inetcpl.cpl, right click and go to properties. Click on the security tab and adjust the permissions for the Everyone group and the users group to not allow access. Restricting them to read I think should do it but you may need to play around a little.
