I am locking down my new network machines by giving users a restricted logon account, the problem I have is that I run a Dos application which requires me to print from it.
Using the Net Use lpt1: \\servername\printer command does not work as a restricted user as it prompts me for a user name and password to logon, however no logon or password work's, It prints if I make the local user an administrator but this is not what I need .I believe this is a security issue with XP how do I get around it.

Any help would be apprecaited, thanks Guys and Girls

Use the devcon disable *PNP0401 command to disable the LPT port mapping to the local parallel port when the computer starts. The devcon disable *PNP0401 command is for LPT1.

Devcon.exe can be found here:
Place devcon.exe in c:\windows\system32

You would then write a batch file or whatever to do the printer redirection:

devcon disable *PNP0401
net use lpt1: //printer_server/printer_name /persistent:yes
