Hey guys,

I have a set-up of over 100 users, using WinNT and W2K, all logging on to an NT Server. Shortly there will be 2 users coming in from a competitor company to work on a joint venture project. These users will be logging on to the domain (I presume) and working as users on that domain.

But, as they are competitiors, obviuosly we don't want them seeing ANY folders on the network other than two project folders.
Is there a way to restrict access to every PC except one (the server), and every folder on the server, except two, (the two project folders) without effecting any other user's rights??????

We are not using SBS and the system policy editor can be used if necessary.

Thanks guys. Jay~

Just a though on this....

Every folder has permissions preset for Everyone to have Full Access.
If I go to the properties of the folder(s) that I dont want them to access, in the Security tab and add in a permissions type of No Access for the user names, will that work?? Seeing how there is already an Everyone Full Access in there already???? Or will the Full Access overpower the No Access one??? Jay~

I believe that the most restrictive permission overides the Full Control. So they should be denied access to any folder/file that you restrict them from. You may want to double check it by trying it out. Set the deny access and then log in as the new user and see if you can get to the file.

To avoid this in the future you may want to get rid of the "everyone" full control, and just assign permissions through groups or individuals. That way, when you creat a new logon for somebody coming to visit, they will only get access to the specific files that you give them rights to.

Hope this helps

Hey,
just to let you know, I added in the deny access to all but the two folders, and when the users logged in, it worked like a treat!
I suppose I shouldn't add in the 'everyone' to the folders at first! Jay~
