Hi

One of the staff wants to be able to call users internally, but have all his calling details hidden from the display of the receiver of his call.

I cannot remove his details from the name field on the station as we need them in there for voicemail.

Is there a field in the station pages that allows me to suppress his details?

If you:
1. Create a XPort station with either ~ or * as the name (no other characters in the name field).
2. Give this user at least 1 bridged appearance button for the new XPorted station, and
3. Instruct him to make his internal calls from the bridged appearance button, then:

The receiving caller will not see a name come up on their display. They will, however, see the extension of the XPorted bridged appearance that this staff member is calling from.

I don't know how to suppress the calling extension from being displayed - maybe someone else can answer that.

Just a question, though - why does this staff member want this? After a while, everyone else is going to realize what's going on. "Oh, my phone is ringing, but the display is blank - it must be Mr. Doe from Accounting calling again." Under certain circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer. - Mark Twain

Why not just label his extension as your company name, that way "Company X" will display and he users will probably be none the wiser!

Thanks for the info

Basically this guy is a programmer who has been in the business for quite a while. He gets direct calls from the business instead of the business using the correct channels. We want to take his number off the directory and ensure that nobody knows his ext no so users cannot call him directly.

We have tested the solution by using bridge call app on all his call-app keys. We bridge it to a dummy extension and nobody can call him directly.

You're right about it being dangerous though. I have a feeling that more staff are going to ask for it now its in place....
