Hello folks.
I was wondering if there is a way to restore a single, deleted e-mail from an account that is still active. The e-mail was deleted several months ago from the user's Inbox and was emptied from their Deleted Items.
I've heard that nothing is ever truly deleted, but am not sure.
Thank you in advance for your help.

If this is Exchange (you didn't say) items can be recovered for as long as the deeted item retentionm is set. After that, they're toast.

My advice would be to restore a backup tape from the period when the item was still around (or just deleted).

In Outlook Express, I am led to believe that the space occupied by deleted e-mails is not overwritten until the 'Compact Folders' option has been used.

It is, therefore possible to 'undelete' these mails. There may even be some software available that might help.

Andy.
