Hello,

Can I restore a windows system client?
What is the method to do that?
Does it work allright?

Thanks.

What is it that you are wanting to restore??? If it is the complete Operating System, then you will need to ensure that it is being recovered to the original server, or to an identical server. All hardware must be the same, unless you are using BMR.

Registry entries are based on the hardware specs of the original hardware, and if you place them in a different style server the result may be disastrous.

Hope this helps..........

Thanks,
Bob

Hi nbkp25v,

I want restore all the windows operating System to the original server. For example, I want do when I have a disk fail or something like that.

If I change the disk fail on my original server (with the same disk) and after I restore the windows operating System, does it work allright after?

Ps: What is BMR?

Hi again,

Can I use Intelligent Disaster Recovery to do that?

Thanks,
Céline

Yes, you can do that. There have been known issues with restoring the O/S, since the dll files may not lay back down in the same manner as when the O/S (or other applications) last touched them. However, I have completed several FULL restores (Windows 2000 Avanced Server clients) with minimal complications. Once the restore was complete on each one, I reinstalled the latest SP, prior to running it in production.

BMR is Bare Metal Restore, a VERITAS product......More information in the link below.

hth........

Thanks,
Bob
