There are several ways:
1. Under Network Properties, uninstall TCP/IP. Click Okay. Go back to Network Properties and add them back;
2. Related way, go to Add Remove Windows Components. Remove the Network Components. Add them back.
3. At a command prompt, netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
4. Some people prefer to use regedit. You go to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock, and
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2
on any other similar workstation running W2k and export those keys to a diskette.
Then you go to the machine to be repaired and with regedit (after exporting both machines to be safe) ytou delete both entries. You replace them with the two exported keys you placed on diskette.
The first method is usually sufficient.
Best.
