Restore to different server

Am doing a test restore of one of our servers.
Domain member, F/s
Created the base build and installed remote agent.
old server is called server and new server to be restored to is restore2
What I would like to do is roll the entire backup onto of restore2, then take it off the production, reboot and test.
Does anyone know how I can redirect the restore to another server??

You can only re-direct user data. This would be done under file re-direction. You cant re-direct the whole server to another server name. The system state or shadow copy components wont restore right..limitation of microsoft.

And the hardware your restoring too has to be almost identical to the source server you backed up.

Found the answer to the problem
It is a bit out of this forums topic though.
I used a product called Acronis true image
they have a sub product called Universal Restore
which will allow a restore to another machine with different hardware.
