Restore problem with the Arcserve Oracle agent

Hi,

We've been using Brightstor Arcserve 11.1 and Oracle Backup agent some months on W2K servers. Backups seems to be working ok, but now when we should restore from the backups for the first time this doesn't work.

Restore returns an error E8601
Failed to connect agent. (AGENT=\\servername\dbaora7@DW, EC=Invalid user ID or password was submitted or Database Server instance may be inaccessible. If user ID is a Windows domain account, please use Domain\Username.)

I've tried local admin, domain admin, INTERNAL, tried SYS, and SYSTEM and none works.

Has anyone managed to get this to work?

Try userid@instancename - also check that Oracle instance you are trying to restore to is mounted.

If you're trying restore to original location - try de-selecting this and browsing to the location instead.
 
I didn't mention the main thing, Oracle server is crashed, so I can't mount the Oracle instance. Now I'm trying to restore through Oracle backup agent to the different server where I have Oracle server and Oracle backup agent installed. Should I use the same instance name on my new server, which I've used on my backup instance on my old server?

I'm sorry I'm gonna punt you to the manual on this, you didn't used to be able to do a re-directive restore to another Oracle server in the older versions, if it now does, it should show you how to do it in the Oracle Agent manual (on the CD).

Just a check too, you are using the auth details for the new server right ? and not the details for the backup you are trying to restore ?
