We upgraded from ArcServe 6 (Netware) to Brightstor ArcServe 9 (Netware). That part is fine, new backups and restores are OK.

An incident just arose where we need to restore from an older tape that had been backed up on this server using AS6. So the tape is not in the existing AS9 database.

I'm not sure what my next course of action should be.

(1) Should I try to merge the AS6 tape into the AS9 dataase? Would this cause conflicts?

(2) Or should I merge this AS6 tape to the database of a different Netware server which is still running AS6 for backups?

I suspect it'll take a long time to merge in either case.

You can merge the tape into either system.

First do a scan on the tape to find out what sessions are on the tape. Then merge just the session you need to restore from.
