I keep getting messages that access to the restore directory is denied when I try restoring files from tape. I am using redirection as the current partially corrupted data is still live. I have a NT4.0 media server (BE8.6) backing up a number of SQL databases and a data directory on a win2000 server, the database backup and restores work fine. Is this because I am backing up from a win2000 server to an NT4.0 server?

Probably! I don't have BE on a windows 2k server yet either, so I use the windows backup tool to backup from windows 2k servers to my windows nt4 file server, which does have BE installed. Then it gets backed up as part of my nightly backup. I do that because the doco I got with BE says restoring from windows nt4 to windows 2k won't work.

Smile anyway,
Perry.

I have this problem with BE 7.x. It is a permission issue, I think. I can restore to my own folder and then copy to the location it should have gone to.
I a still trying to find out why it works to restore to original location, but not to redirect. I bellieve it is a permission issue, but I can't prove it yet.

Jim
