Hello,

Using:
Laptop - demo system
XP SP2
MS SQL Server 2000 developer (upgraded from Professional)

I am trying to restore my database(DEMO) from my previous install of SQL Server.

When I open SQL Server Enterprise and go to Restore Database from Device, find the demobackup file, it gives me the following error:
Cannot open backup device C:\....\demobackup. Device error or device off line. See SQL error log for more details. Restore database terminating abnormally.

I really don't know what to do from here.

Thanks

I really love it when I solve my own problems. I should give myself a STAR!

Here's what I did:
Stopped Server
Under MY Computer, Manage, Services -
MSSQLSRVR
SQLSERVICES

Made sure both had admin account access to the machine.

Started Server
Restored database successfully!

thanks

You have any chance change the new DB file locations.
right click on your DB prior to restore and note the path of mdf and ldf files. Then perform the restore, selct the file from a device and verify the options tab is same path as you noted, else make the changes.

Dr.Sql
Good Luck.
