Hello

We have a situation where a registry key for our install of Arcserve 2000 was inadvertently deleted. As a result, the product and all its options had to be re-installed.

What I would like to know is, how can we restore/recover our Arcserve database so that we do not lose all the tape history information of our previous backups? The contents of the database are stored in C:\Program Files\Computer Associates\Arcserve\Database. We have backed up the entire c:\program files\Computer associates folder to another location as a precaution.

Is there anyway to recover/restore this?

Thanks,
ger.

HI,

Whenever you perform a FULL backup of the ARCserve server, the ARCserve database is also backed up as a seperate session.

You can use the DBrecover utility from the ARCserve manager to restore the ARCserve DB from the last FULL backup.

The ARcserve FAQ on the VLDB has this enlisted.
Please refer link

Q: If I do backup my ARCserve database files, how to I recover (restore) my ARCserve database using this method?

A: Go into the ARCserve Manager Menu and choose Utilities. Then choose Recover database. This will allow you to recover the ARCserve database. Recovering your database with the Recover function IS NOT the same as running a merge job. Remember that a merge job processes cat files. A database recovery simply restores the ARCserve database folder. The best way to refresh your database is with the merge function.
