restarting mailbox store after mailbox move

I recently installed a new exch2k3 in the organisation to replace an older server which is also running2k3. installation etc was fine - no problems at all. however i have started to move mailboxes from old server to new server and as a result I have to restart my mailbox store to get these moved mailboxes to work. Any ideas anyone (or has anyone seen this before )as i want to do a massive move this weekend and don't want to go ahead if something is wrong with the configuration.

You could consider using ExMerge?
