Hi,

I have just gained the following Cisco equipment.
3 x 2501 Routers
1 x 2600 Router
2 x 4000 Router
1 x 7100 Router
1 x 3200 Catalyst Switch

Is this kit any good for building up a working lab that I will be able to use to learn CISCO???

Now I want to learn how to use them and build up my own lab. I work in network environment, have bsc in computer networks and have done a small amount of work with Cisco kit in the past. What are the best resources for learning how to use this kit and configuring it for my lab environment.

I have also just been given access to PEC through my employer.

Any comments appreciated.

Sounds like you have a pretty impressive setup there!

Cisco kit is very complex and there really is a vast amount of stuff to learn. Start thinking about getting a CCNA. I would get the Sybex book by Todd Lammle and read that and do the lab exercises.

Then start looking at a BSCI course and see a huge leap in difficulty again.

Good luck!

You could might want to look at getting a module for your 2600 so you could do frame-relay. I'm currently studying for CCNA the sybex book is a good book for beginners but the cisco press books go into a bit more depth. Sybex doesn't cover NAT so you might want to read another book to pick that up. As you've got a lot of routers you might want to invest in a cisco 2509 terminal server. This will alllow you to have multiple connections to your routers etc. Good luck in your studies.
