Hi Everyone!

I'm having a strange problem resolving a site on the Internet on my Windows 2000 DNS box. When trying to resolve the name it cant but the server can resolve nearly everyother site. However if I go into Properties of DNS and click on Advanced and check Disable recursion then the server can resolve the site.

Anyone know why this is and if there is any pitfall in having this setting checked?

On a separate system, I have a W2K3 DNS Server and this can resolve the site without enabling the setting and both servers have the same root hints.

Any knowledge shared will be gladly appreciated.

perhaps you just need to clear the DNS cache on that first server?

Good luck,
