HP Protect Tools Drive Encryption - Decryption.

[!]Stop![/!]
If you have issues with HP Protect Tools drive encryption , there may be a way out. Read how I resolved my issue before reformatting or doing something else that may make things worse. i.e. don't use the Windows fixmbr command.

I've double posted on purpose to try and help people with similar issues as my initial post may confuse due to 'Bitlocker' being in the subject. Bitlocker may have caused the issue by modifying the MBR and trigering the fault, but it had nothing to do with the solution. During my battle, there wasn't a lot of help out there. Especially from HP and McAfee.

Anyway, I hope you find this helpful.

Perhaps you should just post it as a FAQ, of course with as much detail and step-by-step organization as possible. That way folks can find it a little more directly in the future - so long as they remember to check the FAQs. [wink]
