Resetting Contivity 1010

Trying to reset Contivity 1010 to default password using reset button on back of unit during boot but still no luck.
Thanks in advance.

have you tried the break key on the console during boot? btw, this is a voice/voip pbx forum.. i assume the 1010 is a data switch?

Contivity 1010 is a VPN switch.

Push a paperclip into the hole on the back named Rec.
Turn on the power while holding thi is.

This will start up recovery mode. Now point browser to the management IP and follow instructions to factory reset it.

I don't know the IP address. That's the problem.

If you put a sniffer on the line you should see it doing an ARP or something. Again, maybe a better question to pose in the data forum.

Once in recovery mode, connect the console cable to the box. Log in with your admin username and password. You can see the management address from the serial menu when in recovery mode.

I should be more specific. I have Contivity boxes that I need to default but I do not know the managemnet IP or the admin username or passwords. As far as I know I need one or the other in order to accomplish the default.
Right or wrong?
