I am building my own computer for the first time. One of the problems, although small to me. I plugged in the wire to where it should go for the reset switch, but when I push on the computer button, nothing happens and it doesn't restart. Any ideas?

Double check the connection to make sure it is in the right place. You could be off one pin. I beliece the mother board should say which pins are used for this switch. You could also just have a bad switch that isn't making the connection. And you could also make sure the wires out of the switch have a good connection as well. Try these right away to be sure.

Good Luck,

Thanks, I'll do these and let you know what happens.

yeah i know your pain, those connectors are sometimes not labelled, making connections a real pain. try verifying teh connection, maybe flipping the connector around as well, sometimes it is not on the right way. Even if you made a mistake, there is no real risk for your motherboard.

just touch a screwdriver to the two pins connecting the circuit and see if it reboots. This can be bad for an operating system because it can corrupt files. Of course when you need to use reset nothing else is working.
