Hello,

Is there a way in Netbackup to reserve a drive in a silo to be used only for restores and not backups? For examples, our silo has 8 DLT drives - 7 would be used for backups and 1 would only be used for restores.

Thanks,
Mark

You can't specify a certain drive for restores but you could limit the storage unit to use only 7 drives in its definition.

Just because the Veritas documentation states a certain thing does not make it a fact

After you set up a storage unit for the single restore drive make the drive "on demand only". This prevents any policy that are set up to run on "any available drive" from going to that drive. The only way a backup will go to that storage unit is when you have it specified in the policy. This is not reserving it in the way you wanted but will definitely keep backups from going to it, which is what you want. Hope this helps!
