Hi ,
I am having a problem here . I just upgraded the systems to a Windows 2000 Server from NT Server and to a Exchange 2000 from Exchange 5.5.
Everything is working fine at the Main building where the servers are located. But the other two building are having a problem . Everytime an email is sent, Outlook freezes for sometime. When we ping our Exchange server it shows' Request Timed out' But after sometime it start functioning normally. Even though the email is sent Outlook stops responding .
We have a T1 connection and linked via routers.
Is this a server problem or an Exchange 2000 problem .
Could anyone shed light on this issue .
Its pretty crucial .
thanks in advance
Sanjeev

Make sure that your Subnets are configured on Active Directory Sites and Services. With out this Exchange can't find the networks.

Also try the Exchange 2000 forum. This may be more appropriate.

since you have request time out, i would exclude as being an Exchange problem.
After upgrading to windows 2000. the most frequent problems are because of DNS configuration. In w2k is vital!

So, check DNS settings. When you ping Exchange server are you using IP address of the server or the name?

When i ping the server I am pinging the server name .

Ping with IP address, see if you have also request timeout. If not, then you have a DNS issue. If yes, then you have a networking issue, routers, etc.
