My crystal reports are created on one drive in the network.I use OLE DB connection without using UNC to connect to the database because the databases are located on the same drive. Crystal reports on the web are not opening, sometimes by users in other countries.
1.Do I need to use Database files in the data explorer to select the database and then convert to UNC?
2.Is it possible that concurrent users are more than five?
These are the only two questions I can think of and are solutions to these questions the only solutions.Does a solution to question 1 actual help solve this problem.
3. Is it adviceable to use OLE DB to connect to SQL server and not Access?
4. Is it adviceable to use Database files to connect to Access?

Suggestions will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance for the solution.

"Crystal reports on the web are not opening, sometimes by users in other countries."

How are you placing these reports on the web?

1.Do I need to use Database files in the data explorer to select the database and then convert to UNC?

Or use UNC as you create it.

In looking below, you mention SQL Server, which shouldn't have anything to do with UNC???

2.Is it possible that concurrent users are more than five?

You may only have 5 concurrent users if you're licensing is 5. Question 1 is unrelated.

3. Is it adviceable to use OLE DB to connect to SQL server and not Access?

Now you're losing me... WHat database are you using?

Which version of SQL Server? I use Native connectivity for versions 7.0 or below.

4. Is it adviceable to use Database files to connect to Access?

What does this mean?

Since I don't know how you're deploying web based reports, it's hard to say.

I would probably use ODBC, even for MS Access databases.

The database I am using is Access 97.

The reports are located in a folder in our network.

You can't use ODBC with server based reports, as ODBC to access requires a Mapped drive, but services don't have any mapped drives. A limitation of the ODBC driver.

You will need to convert your Access Rpt to use native Access DB drivers (DAO), (use Set Location), set the DB location to a UNC and then your service can find the data.

Basicly, your report says the DB is on the J: drive, but the service doesn't have a J drive, so can't find the DB.
