i am making a form and link it to a label preview

LABEL FORM c:\address\chris7.lbx preview

but how come when i click the print button
the following error occurs?

Reports contains a nesting error

if the error number is 1653 that means A user-defined function in a label form has called LABEL with a FORM clause again.

I do not know what is the error number
and what can i do to prevent this error?

Do you have any code anywhere in the report? If so you may want to revise your code, you may be missing a comma or a bracket. If you have code in the textboxes, double-click on the textbox to open the expression and press the "verify expression" and let VFP tell you where the error is.

If you preview your label form from the command window and it produces the error, it should open up the expression builder for the field on which the error occurred. there is probably a UDF causing the trouble. You should also be able to execute the statement:

?ERROR()

from the command window to see what the error number is.

Do you get the same error when you send that label directly to your printer?

Are you using anything like 'This. ' or 'ThisForm.' in your label form? You may need to start by recreating your label form and see if you still get the same error.

mgagnon, i do not get the same problem when sending it diretly to printer...
why is that so?

DSummZZZ, i do not put any table in the label form
but jus include the field names
what do u mean by recreating my label form?
what to change?

1. As DSummZZZ suggest you may want to modify you label, select all, and copy and paste it on the a new label. Sometimes reports get corrupted and creating a new one might solve the problem.

Although in this case I would tend to think it's more the way VFP addresses the printer driver in the preview mode. I believe it's different than sending it directly to the printer (since your report no error when you send it directly). If that is the case, a couple of options come to mind.
1. Do use the preview option.

2. If you need the preview option, use it but remove the printer icon from the preview toolbar and then send it to the printer directly.

3. Try sending your report to a different printer, see if you still get the error. If so, for example if you are using an HP PLC6 printer driver, try changing it to a PLC5 or PLC4 printer driver.
