Using NB Enterprise 6mp4 on Solaris are there any built in tools or decent 3rd party Apps that allow you to perform reporting on backups either over time or an instant view.

My thinking is to easily identify bottlenecks, servers that consistently take a long time to backup etc. I'm trying to justify SSO without any actual written proof over time.

It would also be nice to actually see whats going on...

NetBackup has CLI that allows you to build your own scripts to take care of most of your needs. There are sights on the internet that share their scripts. Here is one:

NetBackup 6.0 has NOM but it is mostly for real time analysis

symantec has "Command Central" that has a db to store history and has reports that you can build to extract historical information for analysis and trends.

Aptare has been reported as a very good 3rd party solution for real time, historical, and trending analysis. visit their website at:

Just because the VERITAS documentation states something as certain, that does not make it a fact and that is truth.

Thanks, I should of mentioned I was kind of swayed against NOM based on previous experience with the Advanced Reporter that came with 5 as an add-on, bit basic and very much a 'now' view.

I'll check out the scripts although it says 'latest version' 5.1mp3 and investigate Aptware :)

FWIW, I have been using Command Central Service and after spending some time buried in the manuals have found I can make it produce most any report I have been looking to produce. One nuisance I have found is if you want the detail behind a graph and the export is more than one screen, you have to do it a screen at a time. We had bought into GDM and NBAR, and were very disappointed with the products. Command Central has proven to be an industrial strength solution so far (been using it for going on 9 months).
