Report/Label Problem 2

In reports that are setup to be run as 3-up labels (using either label or regular report designer), I've been running into trouble with the upper left hand label printing out blank. No record is skipped when this report is run, it simply doesn't start until the second label. This only happens when the is a group band other than page, column, and detail and only when it is set to print horizontally, not vertically...any ideas as to why??

Just before you use:

REPORT LABEL ....

Browse the table to see if it's the right table and to make sure there is no blank records (or a deleted record with no SET DELETED ON)

Thanks for responding!! Checked it out, and no dice...no blank records. Bear in mind that I can remove the group header/footer and it removes the blank...for example, if I make a header/footer on firmname and tell it to start a new page on each firm, then I get that pesky blank, but if I remove that header/footer and just have the default bands, then there's no blank, of course, then it prints in one continuous set of labels, which in this case, won't do!!

Yes....it works fine if I change the print order to vertical, but in horizontal this problem crops up...for many people this isn't a problem, but its on an app that has about 400 clients and some of them tend to get quite loud in their objections if its not a certain way...

Was this problem ever resolved? I have exactly the same problem but I cannot see the solution here. Does anyone know how to overcome this?

Yes, this is one of those annoying "features" of VFP. (They may actually fix it in VFP 9!) The problem is that VFP wants to print the group header in that first cell instead of the first record's detail. Here's a workaround:

1. Copy all the objects to be printed in the detail band and paste them into the group header. (Yes, you want them in both places!)

2. In the OnExit function of the group header band, put a UDF that skips a single record. (You have to put a function call in the OnEntry or OnExit command, otherwise, you could just put the Skip right there.)
