I am not receiving much cooperation from my network guys, so my apologies if this is a dumb question or I ask it in a profoundly stupid manner.
We are running HEAT (call center app) over a 5 server citrix farm. There about 30 crystal reports that run through the app that reside on a SAN volume mapped identically to each citrix server.
When a report is opened, it shows in the Win2000 Computer Manager that the report file has one lock on it. The lock does not go away until the user actually logs out of the app (which ends the citrix session). If the user does not log out however, when the report is run a second time, a second lock is placed on the file. This keeps increasing to the point that we have files that show 17 locks on them from one user. The magic number seems to be 20, but it is hard to tell because we have 100 users in at any time going back and forth.
The issue is that this progesses to the point that other users are unable to run these reports. They see an error stating "Error opening Crystal Reports report: {path}" - then after an OK click 'Invalid TLV record'.
So far, we cannot tell if it is the Citrix session placing the file lock or the app - its support staff is looking at this too.
Does anyone here have any experience with this file locking and how to work around it?
