Having setup sites in AD sites and Services, I don't seem to have had any problems. However, when I try to replicate I get the message "The RPC Server is unavailable"

Microsoft Knowledge base is completely useless with regards to this problem. All they suggest is that the RPC service may not be started which is untrue. They also suggest using the netdiag utility to detect problems but they don't tell you how to use it or what do do if it detects any problems.

This is very frustrating. Does anyone know how to get round this irritating problem.

Are the trusts set up in domains and trusts?
If so then a reboot of the second server will force a replication.
If the trust is not set up you could try creating one.Start with the bottom one.
You dont say if you joined as new domain new tree existing forest or just child domain.

Send the eventviewer message with ID...too if you can. Joseph L. Poandl
