Replication between two servers

Hello people,
Help required desperately

Objective: To perform transactional replication between two servers, with Publisher and Distributor on the same server and subscriber on a different server. The subscription is a Pull Subscrition.

Trials:
1. Replication on single server: The replication is succesful if we have users with SQL server authentication as owners of both Snapshot Agent and Distribution agent.
But if we change the owner of both to a NT user, the replication fails.

Error is: The job failed. Unable to determine if the owner (sapient\akans) of job SAPIENTCSAA-publish-published-SAPIENTCSAA-pubs- 0 has server access (reason: Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'Sapient'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 8198)).

2. Replication using two windows 2000 servers: publisher and distributor on "SAPIENTCSAA" and Pull subscription to "CSAA-SRAMAC"

A similar error to above is recieved: The job failed. Unable to determine if the owner (sapient\akans) of job SAPIENTCSAA-publish-published-CSAA-SRAMAC-subscrib- 0 has server access (reason: Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'Sapient'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 8198)).

for both trials:
the status of the subscription and distribution agent is " never started"
standard security is used.
logged in on both servers as sapient\akans who is also the administartor for both machines

Please respond as soon as possible..sooner the better

Have you received an answer or solution yet as I am having exactly the same problem but with SQL server 7. My subscriber and distributor are on the same machine and the publisher is on another.
