It seems that intrasite (servers within a single site) replication occurs 5 minutes by default before it notifies a replication partner. The 5 minutes is set in the registry and i guess that this is where you alter the default time. Also read that the propogation delay for a change to be replicated though a domain (a kind of convergence I guess you’d call it) is 15 minutes, based on the 5 minute default and a 3 hop limit. Is that true? That seems odd to limit the number of servers in a site to 3. So have several questions,

1. (site question) Is there a 3 hop domain controller limit and is this per site or domain?
2. (forest/domain question) Should you use a site for a single forest or are the DCs added anyway to the default site if you don't have WAN links? I guess i'm tryin' to see if a site is needed by default for a non-WAN setting.
3. What is the default ‘convergence’ where all domains in a forest have the same info and do they also replicate every 5 minutes like a site? Not sure how often or how to configure replication between domain controllers in a forest.

I'm a newbie, please forgive any errors above and correct me/them. Thank you in advance for any assistance!
