Hi

We currently use BO 5.1.2 running off a Compaq Proliant 7000 server. Everything is hunky-dorey, however, we've been offered the chance to move up to an 8500 server. I've been asked by our MIS dept what the rammifications would be of moving the repository, Broadcast Agent etc from one server to another with minimum disruption.

They have suggested doing a complete backup to tape of all the applications and data held on the current server and then replicate it across onto the new server. This idea seems sound but will the repository or the BO registry files kick up a fuss when it recognises that the system architecture is different? Or doesn't it make a difference providing all the domains are copied over as well?

Cheers

You do not mention the database you are running on the 7000, if you are not running the database there you are not moving the repository.

if you are running Oracle for example, on the 7000 when you bring up the Oracle database on the 8500, and have the same SID, Network name, and IP address. Business objects will assume it is the same repository and be fine The one thing you can't give for your heart's desire is your heart. - Lois McMaster Bujold
