I would like to put faster hard drives & controller in my server - I currently have an Adaptec 2100s U160 card and some very old Fuji SCSI hard drives in RAID 1 configuration...I would like to boost disk I/O performance a bit by adding a U320 card and 15000rpm drives.

I am using Netware 6 SBE - what is the best method for replacing the old hard drives? I make regular back ups of the data...but what are my other options besides restoring from tape to the new drives?

Are you using Traditional or NSS volumes?

Your best bet might be to use a 3rd party solution like Portlock Storage Manager to copy the data from one set of drives to the other. There are ways you can do it with Netware but it's more complex and more difficult to pull off.

I have NSS volumes.
Portlock Storage Manager seems to be a nice product - I downloaded the eval version...tried it and liked it...so I will be getting the license this week.
Thanks for the tip.
