I have a system running XP Pro. It has 2 hard disks in it. One of the disks, the boot disk, is starting to have intermittent problems (its a few years old). I would like to duplicate the current boot disk onto a new disk. This new disk would then replace the original.

I have made several attempts to do this and either end up with a disk that wont boot or end up with this error:

A problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. ERROR 0x80090006

More can be read about this error at:
If I try the recommended fixes outlined in the above link, I consistantly end up with a disk that wont boot.

So in summary:

Has anyone successfully replaced a boot disk running XP Pro?
If so, how?

any info is appreciated.

bcastner,

can you update the link that you mentioned above - it's not pointing to the right place. I'm having the same issue

thanks,
nate

The manufacturer of your new hard drive should have on their site free software to copy the old hard drive to the new one.
