I'm sorry if this isn't the right place for this post... but this is a (for me) sort of strange request so I'm not sure where to put it.

When I first wrote my Access application I had the mdb file on the server and had an shortcut on each workstation. This shortcut had a specific image I made into an icon file. Since then, I have gotten rid of the shortcut, split the database and have emailed the front end to the staff. Now, my boss wants to have the icon back, but the front end is on each system without a shortcut, so I don't know how to associate my customised icon file with the front end mdb file so that it shows up on the desktop but still opens the Access file.

Any ideas?

What? Who? ME????

Create the shortcut to the new mdb. Right click on it, then click on properties. You may then choose from a short list, or browse for one you have created yourself. Not sure how to change the icon for the core Access.exe (but it would involve using RegEdit and probably registering your new icon as the old MS icon), but this will work for mdbs you create yourself.

I have great faith in fools; self-confidence my friends call it.

OOPS! After you click on properties, click on "change icon". This is active for mdbs you create, but disabled for the Access.exe.

Thanks...

I thought there was another way to do it rather than creating another shorcut. Since I emailed the front end to the staff and told them to put it on their desktops for ease of access, I got rid of the customised shortcut. So, I'll just tell my boss to move her front end to a different location and put the shortcut on her desktop.
