I am creating an application (well its complete just need to work out some bugs) and here is what happens. It uses 2 Access 2000 databases. A "DATA" (This is a local database which stores personal data) and a "SYSTEM"(Stores updateable stuff) Database. When a new update is released (i.e. changes are made to the SYSTEM database) the end user can download the new SYSTEM database from the website, which will then OVERWRITE the old SYSTEM database. When the app is restarted it CRASHES. (as in just shuts itself completly off!) any ideas what is going on here? Thank you!

Well pdddms I don't know if anyone has said welcome to TT so there is it. Now there are a couple of things you need to make sure. One, is make sure that the database tables have not changed. Second would be to make sure that they are the same release (97/2k whatever) and a third is to make sure the entire file is downloaded correctly and their is no corruption going on.

Good Luck

It is the same database 2k all the way.
Dont think it is currupt.
the only thing that changes is: additional entries are made on tables, not table names all together

and thank you

pdddms Hi,

Have you tried openning the "newer" database from Access. If the database is corrupt, maybe you will get an informative message rather than a crash of the application.

Regards.
