I'm new to working on IP Office. I need to replace a module. We're using IP Office 500 V2 version 8.0 (44). All I need to do is power down, pull the old one and plug in the new one, then power it back up, but. . . how do I power it down and then power it back up? Just pull the plug?

Thanks.

It's probably best to shutdown the SD card first using Manager or SSA then pull the plug, but it isn't the end of the world if you don't :)

You need to login to Manager, select File, then advanced, then system shutdown. Follow shutdown instructions. Unplug power cord. replace Module, and then power up the unit.

So I use manager to Shutdown, then to restart I just plug the power cable back in and it will power up?
Thank you all very much for the input.

yes. Wait for all the lights to change green. Then you should be good to go. Why are you replacing the MOD? I never had to replace one yet.

Wow you guys are really fast! Great!
Actually I'm replacing the module that contains the PRI card, so I have to remove the PRI board from the old module and install it on the new one (700417330 - DGTL STA 8). Are there any special tricks to removing and installing the PRI card or should that be pretty straight forward?

Thanks again!!

I'm replacing it because I need more digital ports. This module has nothing but the PRI board in it, so now I'll have 8 more digital ports.

SUCCESS!! Thank you very much!
Always a little scary when I'm working on something I'm unfamiliar with that could shut the whole business down.

Thanks again for your help.

What do you means it has nothing more than the PRI board on it? Only 2 modules(cards) fit that description. 1)The Legacy card carrier and 2)A VCM card, only the VCM card can hold a PRI that fits on a digital card, so you have removed your VCM card? Do you have IP phones? :)

Yes we have IP and Digital phones.
What does the VCM card do?
This module was a 700431778 IPO IP500 EXTN CARD PHONE 2 PCS04 M107-2... So it actually had 2 PHONE ports on it also. I removed the PRI "daughter board"(?) from this module and put it on the new module 700417330 DIG 8.

If it had 2 analog ports on then that's fine, if it was a blank card with just 4 connections on for the line cards then it would have been a VCM card, this is what allows your IP phones to work and even licences some of them, so removing that would have been a very bad idea :)
