I am tinkering with a DLL for some asp applications that I manage. I created and registered the dll called it from my ASP. I then made some changes to the dll and need to replace it. I ran regsvr with the -u switch and is worked but I cant delete or replace the actual DLL (msg It is being used by another person or program)

Any tips would be appreciated.

Maybe it is the ASP service that is using it? Would you be able to pause or stop the service for a few minutes, long enough to replace your DLL?

The following tool can tell you which process is using that resource.

Thanks for the replies. It turns out that IIS opens it and keeps it open. Stopping IIS unregistering it, then replacing and reregistering it is the solution. Not really what I was hoping for.

Take care,
Dave
