Replace fullclients with Infoview

We are examining the option to replace our full-clients with Infoview. I have only seen Infoview in demonstrations , never worked with it.
Currently we are working with version 6.5 and most reports are pretty straightforward.
However, I have always managed to build pretty complex reports and I was wondering if these will still keep functioning. Can anyone enlighten me what I will lose when we switch to Infoview?

Blom,
I assume you mean WebI and not InfoView.

If you have reports that are at all complex, you won't be able to convert them to WebI. WebI cannot have multiple synchronized data providers. WebI also does not have as rich a formula language.

Many of your reports will convert to WebI in XI since it has a better formula language and can handle most everything.

Just keep in mind that no matter what you decide, building reports on the web simply takes longer.

Well, let me be more precise..
Both developers and users now work with full-clients. In some cases we use the BCA to publish reports as HTML.
As administrators we consider this a pretty zero-cost solution.
However, there is a notion to replace the full-client versions and start using infoview for refreshing existing reports.
We see little additional value in such a strategy and I still have no idea if you could use Infoview for more complex reports.

One of the reasons to make the switch is the constant problems with the full-client versions that are rolled out by scripting. It does not seem to work very well with Oracle 9i

I'm confused. Infoview can refresh any report regardless of complexity.

Scripting is another issue altogether. I would suggest eliminating the scripting. Most of it is likely not needed anyway. What does scripting have to do with Oracle.

If this was my enviornment, I would try to elminate scripting altogether.

Well, this is a BIG company and I have no influence how the higher authorities deal with installing software on clients.

The installation of full-clients is fully scripted. However, this seems to cause conflicts when different users work on the same desktop. (Multiple Oracle home conflicts).

We manage to resolve this by re-installing or by adjusting the path on the machine.

Actually setting up infoview took just a few hours as as everything seems to be running as it should on the BCA server.

I have worked as a developer on full-clients and have little experience with other modules, so I am picking up new aspects as I go along
